If you’re applying for almost any UK university or college, you need to go through UCAS (The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service).
Applications are online, and include a mandatory Personal Statement of up to 4,000 characters. For many students, deciding what to say is a challenging prospect, especially if your English language skills aren’t great.
What do you include? What do you leave out? How do you express yourself to real advantage? Above all, how do you stand out from the crowd?
If you are looking to study fine art or art-related subjects such as fashion, design, textiles, photography or architecture, London Art Portfolio can help. Just as importantly, we can also advise on your best choices of universities and colleges, and also individual courses.
We also help with other applications such as international, Masters and career change applications.
What we do
You supply us with your draft application and we make sure that all the details are filled in correctly and in good English. We also ensure that you are applying for the right courses at the right places for you.
Your personal statement is perhaps the most important section of all, and we will go to great lengths to make sure that it presents you in the best possible light.
However, please note that we will not write your personal statement from scratch or simply fill in your whole application for you. As well as being wrong, this is counter-productive in the long term. You must produce a draft personal statement first and the general impetus must come from you.
To help you boost your application, you may also want to consider enrolling in one of our portfolio preparation courses or arranging some one-one tuition. And for many applications, assembling a good digital portfolio is essential.
UCAS Application Process
One-One Tutorials can also be booked for support and advice on the whole online UCAS application process. This can include any or all of the following:
- Which specialist field is best for you and your future career
- Which University Art School in and out of London in the UK to apply to
- Which of The Russell Group of Universities for Architecture, Film Studies and History of Art to apply to
- Specialist art and design course choice support
- Application mini project support and guidance (as specified by individual universities)
- Online UCAS Application support
- Personal Statement support (content and EFL support)
- Support to meet each deadline of the UCAS application process
- Interview Technique support
- Confidence Building
Please remember to allow plenty of time for us to assist before the deadline for application. UCAS applications must be completed by 15 January for courses starting in the autumn, although some art and design courses do allow entries up to 24 March, to give time for portfolio completion.
If you want to apply to Oxford (Ruskin School of Art) or Cambridge (Architecture and History of Art), applications must be even earlier – by 15 October of the preceding year.
Later applications are allowed, but may not receive the same consideration.
