Bunting, Banners, and Cakes

The British street party is a tradition that has been taking place for decades.  The thought of a street party brings to mind long tables covered in the national colors, cakes and sandwiches, children laughing and playing.

These celebrations originated from “peace teas” that began after WWI celebrating the signing of the Treaty of Versailles.  Now, the celebrations take place on any national holiday, royal wedding, and of course Jubilee.

They are a way for the so called “fractured community” to come together – for neighbors to interact and enjoy each other’s company while celebrating their shared heritage.
