New theme for August – Best of British
July 2012’s theme for our blog posts was ‘bubbles‘. We posted a variety of art styles and media types including futuristic architecture that could create fresh water, fashion stoles made of paper, microscopic photography inspired fine art, miniature sculpture created with condoms, lighting as interior design and inflated jewellery creations. From the success of last month’s theme we’ve decided that for the month of August our blog theme will be “The Best of British” which ties in nicely with the Olympics and Paralympics.
We plan on posting work from fashion designer and textile artist Zandra Rhodes, kitsch prints from Marshall Lester, ceramics and tapestry from Grayson Perry including his latest show “In The Best Possible Taste”, the sensation of ‘knitting bombing’, pearly kings and queens of England (recently featured in the Olympic opening ceremony), and British cars, films, fashion and culture.
We’d love our followers visitors and students to get interactive with us and suggest some of their own ideas for this theme. What do you think defines Britain? What does Britain do best? Perhaps you’ve created work around this theme yourself that you’d like us to share. Please do get in touch!
