London Festival of Architecture 1-30 June 2014
London Festival of Architecture 2014 is approaching!
The London Festival of Architecture consists of a programme delivered by partner organisations – leading cultural and academic institutions – alongside associated projects and open studios by architects, engineers, designers, artists, and curators. In 2014 the festival takes ‘Capital’ as its central theme, and explores its various manifestations; from London’s place as the UK’s seat of government and finance, its flows of social and intellectual capital, the politics of regeneration and its impact on the city and its position as a world capital of architecture, through its practices and its built environment.
Headline event | Will Self: On Architecture
Will Self will be giving a talk in association with Modern Culture which is one of the headline events. He is one of our foremost critical voices about London’s urban character, writing with polemical force about architecture and its power to change the physical character of the city. In this talk entitled, When Liquid turns to Solid: the Spatialisation of Capital Flows in 21st Century London, he explores the theme of capital in relation to new architecture in the city, followed by conversation with writer and journalist Andy Beckett and then takes questions from the audience.
