Whether you’re just starting or rediscovering your love for art and would like to learn more, no matter your background or skill level, you are very welcome! Remember, extra drawing and painting are always welcome for any portfolio interview! With our fun exercises and personalised feedback, you’ll discover how drawing can ignite incredible painting ideas.  We’ll also introduce you to many amazing artists and their techniques. The one-week Taster Summer Drawing and Painting Course for 11-15-year-olds is perfect for beginners or those who want to improve their fine art skills. It’s all about discovering how drawing can make painting even more fun! With an excellent fine art tutor and practising artist to help you, you’ll try out different ways of making art and meet new friends from all over the world online.

You’ll learn about what artists are doing today and meet some artists from the past, too. Together, you’ll explore a mix of old and new styles.

What you will learn

In the Summer Drawing and Painting Class, 11-15-year-olds will learn how to use drawings and sketches to create a painting. This class is great for those who love art and want to try new things. Plus, it’s perfect for building a cool portfolio over the holidays!

  • The fundamentals of drawing and painting, through observational exercise
  • Explore ideas and concepts from drawing into paint
  • Experiment with a range of painting techniques and media.
  • Line, tone, composition and colour that will be introduced
  • Reference to Art History contemporary and historical
  • Methods of work that will encourage students to develop an independent sensibility whilst learning new skills, creativity and direction. 
  • Learn how to develop and apply systems of making drawings as preparatory work for paintings.
