London Art Portfolio offers a 6-week summer portfolio course programme to build and add to your portfolio preparation.

A 6-Week Art and Design Portfolio Course is ideal for clients who want to spend a creative summer in London to build up a portfolio for a Foundation Course, Degree University applications, professional development, or a career change.

We deliver onsite studio art and design portfolio preparation courses, online portfolio courses, and 1-1- tuition. This applies to all of our art classes. We also deliver a Hybrid approach which allows more flexibility. This can be beneficial for many reasons: lifestyle choices,  you may be living in between countries or places, you may be too unwell to travel but can still join the group and continue your studies online, or you may need to keep your accommodation, living and travel costs down. We understand your personal decisions; the choice is yours. We can teach and reach out to anyone in the world. We require full attendance, whether it be onsite or online. The longer you study with us, the more you learn!

WHAT WE DO

This course is a focused 6-week introduction to how to prepare a portfolio. We fully maximise the wonders that London has to offer in the summer by visiting a range of art and design museums and art galleries. You will be taught a range of handmade skills and ideas and a kick-start introduction to Adobe Photoshop. Upon completion of the course, you will have a well-prepared portfolio ready to use for future university applications or a job interview. Throughout the course, you will build up an art and design vocabulary, which will allow you to be far more prepared for a face-to-face interview son online on Zoom or Teams. interview

We will give you specific career advice and direction and discuss your future personal goals and aspirations in more depth. You may want to consider booking the 12-week Portfolio course, which would include a one-week Introduction to Adobe Photoshop and then an extended grid Introduction to help you with your Digital Portfolio. This will help you make decisions for University and career direction.

We help you prepare a portfolio for a number of different specialist fields within art and design such as Fine Art, Fashion Design, Fashion, Business & Communication, Architecture Design, 3D, Graphic Design, Illustration and Animation, plus more. You will receive future career advice and tips on Digital Portfolio Preparation through your course study.

SCHEDULE

  • Days: Monday – Thursday
  • Time: 9 am – 4 pm
  • Tuition: 9 am-12 noon
  • Self-study: 1 pm – 4pm

Afternoon Studies: Students are expected to continue their morning study independently each afternoon and to be ready to share their work the following morning to receive helpful feedback. You need to follow the course closely, whether online or onsite studies. Full attendance is required. In this way, you can fully benefit from our portfolio course programme. Online study: LAP uses Zoom. Please have PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, or the Google Suite already set up on your computer, with plenty of space available plus an external drive or USB.

6 Week Portfolio Preparation Course:

  • Week 1 – Introduction to the fundamentals of drawing + Museum & Gallery visits.
  • Week 2 –Introduction to Portfolio Project: research, idea development & drawing
  • Week 3 –Collage for Fine Art & Design: extend ideas, be creative!
  • Week 4 – Model making: make 3D models, props or fashion on the mannequin
  • Week 5 – Introduction to Adobe Photoshop: review & extend ideas from weeks 1-4
  • Week 6 – Finalise Portfolio: complete work, place into the portfolio, add titles & receive career advice.

This 6 Week Summer Portfolio Course will introduce drawing with various materials, processes, and techniques; design development, 2D and 3D skills, model making and Photoshop. We will make full use of the wonders of London and its fantastic Museums, art galleries, historic houses and garden design that it has to offer.

Much emphasis is placed on research, idea development and concept building. Professional support is delivered throughout this process will lead to selecting ideas to develop further into more outcomes.

The London Art Portfolio Preparation courses are a fantastic way to meet new people in the creative arts. You will also extend your knowledge in Critical and Contextual Studies, learning more about historical and contemporary artists and designers.
